A charming vintage covered dish in the form of a rooster, crafted from opaque jadeite green glass. The piece is richly detailed with textured feathers, comb, and tail, and sits on a flared pedestal base. The top lifts off to reveal a small container, perfect for candy, trinkets, or simply as a striking display piece.
This rooster covered dish is attributed to LE Smith Glass Company, one of America’s most prolific pressed glassmakers of the 20th century. Smith was known for creating whimsical figural glass pieces, many of which were produced in vibrant opaque colors, including jadeite, a glass type highly collectible today.
Jadeite glass has long been prized by collectors, with origins in the 1930s–50s when it was produced by companies such as McKee, Fire-King, and LE Smith. Figural forms like this rooster are especially sought after for their unique charm and decorative appeal.
