This is a beautiful vintage Chinese Rose Medallion porcelain plate, hand-painted in the traditional Famille Rose palette. The design features classic Rose Medallion motifs with intricate floral arrangements, butterflies, and birds, framed with green scrollwork and highlighted with fine gilding.
The central medallion depicts a pair of roosters among peonies, a symbol of prosperity and harmony in Chinese culture. Surrounding panels alternate with lush pink florals and fruit baskets, carefully detailed with vivid enamels.
Rose Medallion porcelain originated in Canton, China during the Qing Dynasty (19th century) and was widely exported to Europe and America. Pieces like this continued to be produced into the mid-20th century, prized for their artistry and cultural symbolism.
This 10-inch plate is a fine decorative example for display and a collectible piece of Chinese export porcelain.
