This beautiful antique ironstone plate was made by Ridgway & Abington, Staffordshire, England, in the mid-19th century. It is decorated in the Smyrna pattern, one of the company’s richly detailed Imari-style designs.
The plate features a central floral basket with vibrant iron red, cobalt blue, and green florals, all highlighted with hand-applied gold gilt. The ornate border displays scrolling blossoms and gilded accents, a hallmark of the Victorian fascination with Chinoiserie and Japanese Imari imports.
Dimensions: approx. 9" diameter
Markings: Printed SMYRNA with impressed and hand-painted pattern numbers on the reverse.
Condition: Good antique condition with light surface wear, gilt rubbing, and fine age-related crazing. No cracks or major chips.
This is a wonderful collector’s piece for fans of Ridgway & Abington ironstone, Victorian Staffordshire china, or Imari revival patterns.
